I stream, You stream, We all scream for Livestream!

Today we discussed twoperiscope meerkat logo streaming apps on the rise: Meerkat and Periscope. Streaming apps allow you to broadcast video to the web instantly. They turn you into a live-on-the-scene reporter similar to what you see on TV. In both cases, both apps post links to your Twitter feed that allow people to join and comment.

Thanks to all who participated in our MC409 MMR first livestream using the Meerkat app. Now everybody in the “livestream” pool!

Your assignment is to do a livestream with either Meerkat or Periscope during Mass Communications Day and write a blog post about your experience. So how did it go???

“Tweets that can’t be beat” on Storify- Your Experience

Hello JSU Storytellers!  Students in the Multimedia Reporting class were recently given a Tweet Week Assignment.  The goal of this assignment was to give you an opportunity to immerse yourself in Twitter, which is an online social networking service that allows users to send and receive short 140-character messages called “tweets”.   Your Tweet Week/Blog/Storify Assignment  was to do a minimum of three tweets daily for five days.  You were also asked to follow 10 journalists and/or media organizations. And then you were asked to showcase your tweet experience using a tool called storify.com .  Storify is a way to add multimedia elements from across the web into one comprehensive story.  Finally you were required to share that storify.com link through Twitter and also share your Tweet Week experience on your journalist blog,

Now we want to hear all about it! So how was your Tweet Week and Storify experience? You were asked to summarize your experience in your blogs that you recently created.

Please “comment” and summarize your experience in one paragraph and include the link to your storify you published.
